Modern Blues For Keyboard!
Testimonials
- Hi Alex, I've just received the video about 2 days ago and must say that
it is superb! Really fills in the gaps... e.g., never knew how to make a lick
out of mixolydian, etc. thought I had to memorize the sequence of circle of
fifths until I hear your explanation (a fifth apart) and it clicked... Thanks.
Ben
- I have already bought the 'blues I Video from you and found it excellent
!! Last time I ordered - from England - I clicked on your site on a Sunday
night, received an email from you on the Monday and the very next Saturday
the UK Post Office delivered it to me - completely intact. Oh, and I've been
using it regularly ever since. Excellent service and an excellent leaning
aid - it was just the thing to take my playing quite a few levels further
- I've been playing for many years, self taught, but seem to have been 'stuck
in a rut' until this came along. Many thanks, Mike
- Alex I received your video ... I am enjoying it, and it is definitely the
right level for me. It gives me lots to work with (including transposing),
and fills out the knowledge gaps I knew I had. Thanks a lot, Linda
- Alex, Received both videos today. Went through #1 (start to finish) to get
a feel for the material before working through each concept on the keyboard.
I am thrilled with the marriage of theory and practicality. Your program will
give me tools to greatly enhance my playing. Thanks, Todd
- Alex! I just wanted to let you know that I got my video!! Modern Blues II!!
You did a great job on both of these!! I can't find anyone reliable to work
with so I have been teaching myself!! Your videos are very comprehensive and
easy to follow!! Bill
- I just received the video Modern Blues for Keyboard today. I've watched
it, just to get a quick overview, and I can tell that there is a lot of good
info. I can't wait to start playing the chords and licks that you have shown.
I have looked just about everywhere for books and/or videos that are made
for piano, and I tell you, they are hard to find. I can find a lot of them
that are made for beginners and for people who want to learn to play the piano,
but there is hardly anything out there for the more advanced player who wants
to learn some new licks. Thank you, Steve
- Alex, have your first blues video, didn't like it at first, but now it's
become my bible. Cordially, Tom
- Alex: Terrific video. Easy to follow. I've been playing for a number of
years but never learned theory. I mostly play by ear and can figure out most
rock songs I hear, but I am somewhat lacking in improvisational ability. This
tape will really help. Brad
- Back when I bought your first video, I was searching around for a good video
that would instruct me on how to play some full and captivating rock piano.
Believe it or not, there was not much out there at all. I have been playing
classical piano for 2 years now and it has been moving along well (after playing
guitar for 20 years, I was no stranger to music; currently working on a two
voice Invention in F by Bach). But when I sit down to play some rock & roll,
my skills are lacking a bit (and my teacher doesn't really teach rock piano
technique). So when I saw this video on the email this morning, I knew I had
to have it. I think it will show me the basic techniques I need to unlock
to get me going more quickly. It appeared to be exactly what I was searching
for last time out. Your first video was excellent, so I knew this one had
to be just as good, if not better. Thanks and please keep me on your mailing
list for any future updates. I appreciate the air mail shipping too, that
is a nice touch. Sincerely, Vince
- Alex, I have received the tape. Halfway through and find it to be of great
use in building up blues chops. The theory section is succinct and well done.
Thanks, John
- Alex, Thanks for the very quick response. I received the tape today (Monday).
This is the fastest response I have ever had. The tape seems great. I'll have
to watch it a few times to learn all of it but so far its wonderful. Dave
- Hello Alex...what's up?....All I got to say is...WHEN IS VOLUME TWO COMING
OUT!!...great video!...your instruction of the theory behind the different
concepts was excellent and I really loved those Jimmy Smith-like licks toward
the end. Very Cordially Yours, D E
- Alex- Been meaning to write for some time now, but with my schedule, sitting
down to do anything lately is hard to do. I bought your video (MBFK) about
a month ago, and I can't begin to find adequate words to describe my reaction(s).
Straight to the point, clean, tight....and loaded with tons of theory. I always
had the desire to play decent keyboards, having burned out on guitar years
ago. I always had a love for the keys, and just recently went slightly nuts
and blew a nice wad of money on a Hammond XB-2 (yes, once a B3 fanatic, always
a B3 fanatic!). Problem was, now what? I could always play by ear, but I wanted
to do more than suffer through endless re-winds to attempt to "pick out" someone's
licks. Your video is a godsend. I was always a fan of R&B, jazz and swing.
I'm a huge fan of Jimmy Smith, and always wondered what it took to play like
that. Well, your tape has shown me not only how the "masters" achieve those
licks, but how I could actually create my own lines. Whenever I find myself
slipping into a rut, it's back to your tape and I take notes and run back
to the XB2 to try again. I always wanted a decent teacher who understood mine
and a lot of other's desires to play decent keyboard. I like to think I found
one, and I highly recommend this tape to anyone who wants to know how to create
their own style. Keep at it! So will I! And thank you! Now, lessee, where
was I?.....oh, yes, "Organ Grinder's Swing".... Again, thanks. I mean that.

- Hi Alex ! Two weeks ago I purchased from you the video modern blues for
keyboard. Let me Tell you that I like the video very much . Is about time
that someone came out with a real good video about how to learn to play the
blues on keyboard. LC
- Alex, Enjoyed your modern blues video; clear shots of the keyboard was
better than most instructional videos. Will the be a follow up video or perhaps
a jazz video? Robert
- Hi Alex I received the video yesterday (thanks for the prompt dispatch)
and what a video !! There's not one wasted second or dull moment and the amount
of stuff packed in there is really first class. Your teaching style is clear,
straightforward and very engaging and the theory content is in perfect balance
with the example licks and sequences. I'm very impressed. Kevin
- Long time no speak. Anyhow, I thought I would let you know how much I've
been enjoying the videos (I got both I and II back in March). They have helped
me continue to progress in my musical journey. I play with a rock/blues band
recreationally and every member of our group has commented on how I just seem
to keep getting better every time we play. I have a long way to go, but I
definitely have made a lot of strides over the past 6 months. I'm currently
building off of the things I'm learning in volume two in order to play both
the bass and keyboards parts of some Doors tunes.
