After child is comfortable immersing his face in the water, teach him to keep his eyes open under water. This is an important survival skill. Put toys on the bottom of the tub, and ask your child to pick them up while looking underwater.

Occasionally, kids get some water up their nose. In these cases, I tell them to blow the water out by blowing bubbles out their nose in the water.

Floating

Once, he can immerse face in water, next step is floating in the water, but first, must be able to get child used to you holding him and dipping him in the water. You have to find a way of holding him that makes him feel secure, and where you can gradually let go and have him float by himself. A good way to do this is to lay in the tub with the child laying on top of you as you sink down a tiny bit at a time so that he barely begins to touch the water. Next step is to have the child blow bubbles from that position.

Make sure his head is in the water or else he won't float; both ears should be under the water surface.

The rest of this is still being constructed.
